Simple Marketing Tips for Today's Consumer

As the needs and desires of the consumer change, we must re-evaluate where we are going in terms of fulfilling those needs and what steps we might need to change. This is especially true if we're still following the criteria set forth in the Marketing 101 course we took 20 years ago. For starters, take a look at the reference materials around your desk - are they still relevant? Even for the pack-rats among us, get rid of outdated material as it could very well be a barrier in terms of relevant marketing strategies that work today.

Hooked on Vintage Vehicles

A passion for collecting vintage cars can be as frustrating as it is rewarding. What with finding the right make and model in perfect condition at a decent price and negotiating the sale can be time consuming as well as flat out tedious. If nothing else, it certainly requires a degree of dedication to frequent vintage car auctions with high hopes of coming away with the car of your dreams. True, a lot of work but once accomplished, the car is yours. You can put it in the driveway on sunny Saturday afternoons so the neighbors can watch you wash, polish and hand wax. You can cruise through town and quietly hear the oohs and ahhs of onlookers and you can be content knowing that you have a one-of-a-kind masterpiece of a time gone by.

New Money in the Luxury Goods Market

Today it's not only the high net worth (HNW) individuals or the even the ultra high net-worth (UNHW) investors who have a corner on the luxury market. The newest category of nouveau riche are the innovative and cutting edge entrepreneurs who have worked long into the wee hours, given up quality family time and invested their whole selves into an idea or product that they helped develop. They are the partners and employees in Silicon Valley start-ups who will be lawfully allowed to sell their company stocks for cash in the near future. When a firm goes public, shares held previously by employees or investors are "locked" for a period of time. That time period is about to expire for many profitable start-ups including Pandora Inc, Linkedin Corp and Zynga Inc. With a sudden influx of ready cash, wealth managers and investment professionals expect the luxury market to be flooded with new demands for high-quality products.

The Importance of People Skills

Great leaders have never been quiet. They've always let their voices and ideas be heard. Have you ever heard of a leader who made an impact through his ideas without voicing them? If one wants to make an impact on the world, he has to have a platform where people can hear him.

It’s Just another reason why interaction with the public through public speaking and/or conversation is so important. No one has ever said that social skills make a man--but they do. In the long run, success and happiness is related to the development of the social skills with others.

All about Branding

Your brand is the image that represents your company. It’s the company’s voice, look, and purpose.  Marketing M.O, a marketing consultation firm says, “Your brand is the entire experience your prospects and customers have with your company.” They hit the nail on the head.

Your brand is your personality, your promise, your purpose, your proposal. It’s your customer satisfaction and the way you interact with customers.  It’s the way you promote your products and ultimately it’s the success of your company in its market. That’s why branding strategies are so important.

Decision Making

How much time should be spent making a decision? We make decisions everyday.  What to eat. What to wear. When to go to sleep.  When to go to work.  Some of those decisions are so simple, we make them without even thinking about it.  But what about those life-changing, make-or-break decisions that require much thought and deliberation? How much time should be spent with those? How much thought? There’s no right answer to this question because every major decision is different.  There are, however, factors that one can consider when making a high-stakes decision.

6 Principles of Persuasion

Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion, the popular must-read book by Dr. Robert Ciadini, is more then just a book about persuading others to think the way you do. It’s also about providing powerful marketing strategies to help influence one’s thoughts, ideas, and new creations to others in a way that will get others to agree, understand, or follow along. With that, Dr. Ciadini, who wrote the bestseller,   has provided proven methods that can be applied to a plethora of life’s possibilities.  In this case, it's helpful to promote one's new or current business.

“People's ability to understand the factors that affect their behavior is surprisingly poor,” Cialdini told eBrand media publication eBizine.  Most people can't explain the reasons they make a decision, but Cialdini understands why and he knows how to influence those decisions to get what he wants.  Now you can, too.

Generation Y is the number 1 Spender In the Luxury Market

The luxury market has had a good year.  Fashionista.com reports that companies like Hermes and LVMH have reported significant gains in their market-share, including the scandal-heavy Dior where the controversial John Galliano was let go after making anti-semetic comments.  The same would not have been reported back in 2008 and 2009, when luxury travel was declining and fine dining was on the way out.  As the recession passed, these luxury "traditions" are back on their way up, but the same can't be said for the luxury fashion industry. Why? Because that portion of the luxury market was never on the decline in the first place.

Mini Cars or Vintage Cars?

Back in 1959, the Mini car was the premiere automobile of British auto manufacturing.  Similar to the German Volkwagon Beetle, this mini mobile saved space by having a small front for the driver and more than half the car space available for backseat passengers.

While it’s great to have a giant SUV or a jeep these days, there’s something to be said for a Mini, which at the time of its inception was an advanced two-door vehicle because it was both a concept and a showpiece.  Now the Mini is back in a modern way. The 2011 Geneva Motor Show released the Rocketman, a replica of the studly small car of the 60s.
This Mini is light, has three doors, and is only 11 feet long.

It’s expected to hit automobile showrooms in 2014.  There’s the Mini Cooper, a 2013 model with front-wheel drive developed along with the BMW manufacturer. Finally, the Mini Coupe and the Mini Roadster are coming out in 2012, followed by the Countryman Coupe in 2013.  The Countryman Coupe has all the makings of a Range Rover in a miniature form.

England has come a long way since the first Minis back in the 50s and 60s.  The Minis were advanced statement-making pieces of their time and the beauties of today will continue that trend throughout the rest of the decade.  These Minis will put new meaning into the term vintage car.

Tips on how to promote your new product

Let's say you or the company you work for have a great new product or service you're hoping will win the attention of the general public and eventually sell by the millions.

How can you start promoting it?

While the actual marketing process isn't as easy as 1, 2, 3, figuring out the different ways to market your product or service can be. The best way to do so is to create a guide that will steer you in the right direction and give you a clear picture of what you hope to accomplish in your advertising attempts. It's also a way to organize your thoughts about the product and find an efficient way to meet the needs of your customers. In addition, it can also save you or your company money in the long run.
